The Stylized Donkey by Dolfi is a Val Gardena carving characterised by soft, rounded lines and a calm, almost meditative pose that emphasises simple, pure form.

Master carvers use burnishing and staining to create gradual colour transitions from natural beige to deep brown, highlighting the maple grain and adding depth without intricate detailing.

Available in sizes 816 cm and crafted from precious maple wood, the piece comes in natural, coloured or three-shade brown finishes and is finished with a smooth satin surface.

The Standing Donkey is a work of refined sculpture, captured in a moment of quiet and attentive observation. This subject, often humble but fundamental in sacred and profane iconography, is rendered with surprising vitality. Observe the curious expression and the large eyes, meticulously painted to give the animal an almost inquisitive and gentle air. The opaque or semi-matte finishes enhance the naturalness of the coat: a uniform light brown with skilled darker shades on the flanks and legs that add depth and volume to the perfectly balanced body. Details such as the sculpted mane, pointed ears, and well-defined hooves attest to the excellence of Gardena carving.

Artisanal Materials and Finishes:

This precious statuette is made from precious Maple Wood, specifically chosen for its fine grain and compactness, ideal for small carvings (from 6 cm to 15 cm). You have the option to choose between the ‘c-colored’ finish which gives vivid realism, the ‘n-natural’ version which enhances the intrinsic beauty of raw wood, or the sophisticated ‘three shades of brown’ (3-g) variant, perfect for those seeking a more dynamic and tactile effect. Each piece is entirely sculpted, sanded, and hand-finished by our master artisans in Val Gardena, making it an invaluable addition to any collection or Nativity scene.
